Dogs of the Blogs: Jade and Oak

Does it get any better than pugs in matching tutus? I think not! Say hello to the lovely faces behind the blog, Jade and Oak…

Who: Jackie, Bowie & Rosie
Where: Jade and Oak
In a Nutshell: My blog is a fun mix of all of the things I love. I’m passionate about redecorating our 70 year old home on a budget, learning easy and nutritious recipes and planning my wedding for next year. My 2 pugs are a huge part of my life and seem to sneak their way into my photo shoots on a regular basis.

Why did you start blogging?
I was so inspired from home design blogs and thought that starting my own blog would keep me motivated. I hope that my motivation and simple decorating/diy projects help to inspire others to work on their homes too.

What is your most popular blog post or most favourite blog post to date?
This post about the best and worst things about my pugs.

Tell us about your pups…
I have 2 pugs but their personalities are night and day. Bowie is more puppy-like and ornery. He loves to run circles around you when you’re trying to clean or do the “crazy butt run” when he gets excited to see you. Rosie is a little older and loves to lay on lap or snooze in the sunlight for hours. They are also both hysterical in their own ways.

If you had to describe your dogs in three words, you’d say… Hungry, sleepy and snuggly.

If your dogs were superheroes what would their name and power be?
Rosie – Houdini – she has the power to break out of her crate repeatedly! Bowie – Hoover – because he eats super fast, usually without even chewing.

How is your dog involved in your blog?
My dogs often feature in photos on my blog even when the post has nothing to do with them. They seem to sneak into my photos all of the time! There is also one dog/pug themed post per week on average.

What is your favourite blog/website?
One of my faves is Peppermint Bliss. Her home designs are so fun and whimsical but sophisticated as well. I would love to have the confidence to use such bold colors and patterns in my own home as well.

What is your #1 tip for other bloggers?
Stay true to yourself! Though you should have an idea who your reader is, you should be blogging about what you love. Your writing will be more authentic and you’ll enjoy yourself more as well.

If you like dog stories, please stop by http://www.maijaharrington.com, where I’m posting one chapter each week from my book-in-progress, Funny Tails: Adventures and Misadventures in Living with Pugs. It’s a lighthearted look at 10 years of life with our 3 pugs plus foster dogs. I think it’ll give you some laughs, as well as some moments that feel familiar.

  6. […] could just relax. Hopefully this next weekend will be a lazy one! (P.S. the puggies are featured on Pretty Fluffy today, again proving how they’re more famous than me!) […]

Work and dogs go together quite well. My two dogs are my best employees. I just have to keep their schedule and take a break every hour to play with them and make sure they know they are #1 and life is good. I hope that you are still posting to this blog because it seems like it’s been a while. I am a big fan of your website.
