If there’s one thing I hate about being a pet owner, it’s the hair.
While I love cuddling the fluffiest of dogs, what I don’t love so much is finding pet hair everywhere.
But the reality is, dogs come with lots of hair and most of that ends up on your carpet.
So that pretty much leaves you with two choices:
A) Start a business making weird sculptures out of pet hair.
B) Check out the Hoover Dog and Cat Vacuum – one of the best budget friendly vacuums for pet owners we’ve ever seen…
I’m going to be completely honest here and say the first thing I noticed about the Hoover Dog and Cat Vacuum was the price.
The Hoover Dog & Cat Turbo Bagless Vacuum retails for $299, but with the Godfreys Easter Sale you can currently get it for just $99.
I’ll wait for you to pick your jaw up off the ground.
Yep, just $99.
I’ve seen ALOT of pet friendly vacuums over the years, but I’ve never seen a reputable pet vacuum for under a hundred dollars.
In fact, a lot of pet vacuums these days cost $800 or more! So, knowing this, I really hoped the vacuum lived up to it’s name when I took it for a test drive.
And boy did it deliver.
As the name ‘Hoover’ would suggest, you’re getting 100 years worth of innovation and experience with vacuum cleaners.
And the Hoover Dog & Cat Turbo Bagless Vacuum is the pick of the litter for pet owners.
The vacuum includes an air-driven Turbo Head specifically designed for removing pet hair from carpeted surfaces, while the 1800W motor powerfully sucks up everything in it’s path.
To put it simply, the turbo head acts like a bunch of rotating tiny brooms sweeping and lifting up dust, debris and pet hair into the suction of the vacuum. Because it’s doing all the hard work, it means you don’t have to.
The bagless dust canister makes emptying the vacuum a breeze and also includes a HEPA filtration system which helps eliminate dust and dander in the air (a godsend for allergy sufferers!)
While trialling the vacuum ourselves we were impressed with the suction level and the reach into thick carpet piles to remove all pet hair without much exertion – all while being one of the quieter vacuums we’ve used.
Both pushing and pulling the vacuum was simple, without any sticking or catching (as you sometimes get with turbine head vacuums).
The pet hair sucked up into the canister without getting stuck in the turbine, and the head fit easily into most corners and under beds.
The air afterwards remained clean and fresh, with no residue.
My husband actually suffers from pet allergies, so after hosting a puppy party and vacuuming up the hair, I threw the poor guy in the room with me to test Hoover’s Anti-Allergy claim, and lo and behold there wasn’t a wheeze or eye watering to be had.
The Hoover Dog & Cat Vacuum comes with 5 standard attachments – the air-driven Turbo Head for carpeted surfaces, the head for hard floor surfaces, Crevice Tool, Dusting Brush and Upholstery Tool. Everything you need to keep your floors, couches and surfaces pet hair free.
The vacuum as a whole manoeuvred quickly and easily as I powered from room to room. Because when you’re cleaning, faster is always better!
Both the head/handle and the vacuum cleaner itself are quite lightweight and easy to move – with a sturdy handle built into the vacuum body that makes it a breeze to pick up.
The hose and vacuum head are flexible enough to get into all the nooks and crannies required when cleaning, with the handy, foot operated power and cord buttons made starting and stopping simple and quick.
If I had to pick a fault, at 4 metres long the power cord was a tad short (and it seems reading other customer reviews this is pretty much the only fault people find with the whole vacuum!), however it is definitely long enough to do a whole room and hallway. It’s just not the length that allows you to do half the house in one go – for a standard house you’d probably need to plug in 3-4 times, and 1-3 for an apartment.
The canister was easily big enough to contain all the pet hair and dust sucked up from an entire house – with room to spare. Emptying it into the garbage was quick and easy, with minimal fuss – no big dust clouds or spilly mess to clean up.
All in all, this vacuum was a breeze to use and left the whole house clean – and most importantly pet hair free!
And for $99, you just can’t beat it.
