DIY Anzac Biscuit Dog Treat Recipe | Pretty Fluffy

Anzac Biscuits are a hundred year old tradition in Australia. This easy to make sweet treat was sent from homes to Australian and New Zealand soldiers (ANZACS) serving in World War I. In celebration of Anzac Day this year, I decided to make a dog friendly version just for your pup!

ANZAC Biscuit Dog Treat Recipe | Pretty Fluffy

INGREDIENTS:
1 1/4 Cups Wholemeal Flour
1 Cup Rolled Oats
3/4 Cups Desiccated Coconut
3 Tablespoons Golden Syrup
250g Applesauce

Anzac Biscuit Recipe for Dogs | Pretty Fluffy

TO MAKE:
1. Preheat oven to 175C. Line a flat baking tray with baking paper.
2. Combine flour, oats and coconut in a bowl.
3. Mix the applesauce and golden syrup in a separate bowl, then add to the dry ingredients. Mix together until fully combined.
4. Scoop out bite sized pieces with a spoon and roll into little balls, and place on lined tray. Flatten each cookie with the back of a fork.
5. Bake cookies for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Place on baking rack to cool.

* Golden Syrup can be interchanged with treacle.

As a long time fan of the Black and White cookie, I knew when I decided on a Black and White theme for Soda’s birthday there was one sweet treat I wanted to make for the occasion.

Enter the Black and White Cookie Dog Treat Recipe. Made of human grade ingredients, it’s the perfect special occasion snack for your furry friend. The best part? They’re a breeze to make. Jerry Seinfeld would be proud.

Black and White Cookie Dog Treat Recipe | Pretty Fluffy

INGREDIENTS:
3/4 Cup Rice Flour
1 Free Range Egg
2 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil
50g Natural Carob Drops
50g Plain Yogurt Drops

Dog Birthday Treat Recipe - Black and White Cookie | Pretty Fluffy

TO MAKE:

COOKIES
1. Preheat oven to 175C. Line a flat baking tray with baking paper.
2. Whisk egg and vegetable oil in a bowl.
3. Add the rice flour to the wet ingredients and mix well to form a dough.
4. Roll dough onto floured surface to approximately 1/4 inch thickness.
5. Using a large round cookie cutter, cut out the cookies and place on lined baking tray. Repeat until dough is finished.
6. Bake cookies for 15-20 minutes or until golden. Place on baking rack to cool.

ICING
1. Melt the yogurt drops in a small heat safe bowl over boiling water.
2. Once melted use a spatula to spread over one half of each cookie. Allow to set.
3. Melt the carob drops in a small heat safe bowl over boiling water. Once melted use a spatula to spread over the second half of each cookie. Allow to set then serve.

* Makes 6 Large Cookies.
* Make sure the first side of icing has set before adding the second, to ensure the sides set evenly.

Valentines-Day-DIY-Dog-Treat-Recipe-_-Pretty-Fluffy

YOU’LL NEED:
3 Cups Whole Wheat Flour
1 Tablespoon Cinnamon

1 Cup Water
1/4 Cup Olive Oil
1/2 Cup Molasses
2 Tablespoons Honey

250g Plain Organic Yoghurt or Carob Drops


2 Large Bowls
Mixing and measuring utensils
Rolling Pin
X and O Cookie Cutters

TO MAKE:
1. Get two large bowls. In one bowl combine the water, olive oil, molasses and honey. In the second bowl combine the flour, and cinnamon.
2. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet. Mix until all are combined.
3. Divide the dough into two, wrap and refrigerate for minimum 3.5 hours.
4. Once chilled, remove dough from fridge and roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness (less than a centimetre).
5. Pre-heat oven to 180 C (350 F). Line 2 flat cookie trays with baking paper.
6. Use your X and O Cookie Cutters to cut out the treats. Place on baking tray. Bake for 10-15 minutes.

ICING:
1. Place yoghurt or carob drops in a heat safe bowl. Melt the drops over boiling water, stirring constantly.
2. Dip the treats into the melted drops and allow to cool before serving.

HANDY HINTS
* Makes approximately 80 small treats, depending on size of cookie cutters.
* Why not package up a selection of treats in lolly bags for Valentine’s treats for doggie friends?
* Store in an airtight container and consume within the week.
