Anzac Biscuits are a hundred year old tradition in Australia. This easy to make sweet treat was sent from homes to Australian and New Zealand soldiers (ANZACS) serving in World War I. In celebration of Anzac Day this year, I decided to make a dog friendly version just for your pup!
INGREDIENTS:
1 1/4 Cups Wholemeal Flour
1 Cup Rolled Oats
3/4 Cups Desiccated Coconut
3 Tablespoons Golden Syrup
250g Applesauce
TO MAKE:
1. Preheat oven to 175C. Line a flat baking tray with baking paper.
2. Combine flour, oats and coconut in a bowl.
3. Mix the applesauce and golden syrup in a separate bowl, then add to the dry ingredients. Mix together until fully combined.
4. Scoop out bite sized pieces with a spoon and roll into little balls, and place on lined tray. Flatten each cookie with the back of a fork.
5. Bake cookies for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Place on baking rack to cool.
HANDY HINTS!
* Makes 16 Anzac Biscuits
* Golden Syrup can be interchanged with treacle.
