Who: Melissa and China
Where: Best Friends for Frosting
In A Nutshell: Best Friends For Frosting is a website about all things DESSERT! We premier top rated dessert recipes and trends amongst fellow dessert blogs. We also premier other exclusive content such as interviews, guest posts, and round-ups.
Why did you start blogging?
With the goal to gain experience to open my own bakery, I worked in a variety of shops. But, after working in the industry for three years, I now focus my energy on delicately hand-picking dessert recipes & trends to feature at Best Friends For Frosting – as if they were featured inside the bakery I once dreamed of opening.
What is your most popular blog post to date?
One of our most popular posts was a round-up we collected including 28 popular dessert blogger’s all-time favorite cupcake recipes. Bakerella, Sweetapolita, SprinklesBakes and so many other bloggers participated.
Tell us about China…
I have a little girl pug named China. She is nearly as old as mine and my husband’s relationship – nearly 7 years. There are so many reasons why she’s such a special girl. She’s a happy girl but slightly stubborn. She is so darling, plus she is so sweet to our son. She also does this amazing howl that sounds like she is saying “roooooooo.” We’ve been trying to teach her to say “I love you” for years. She can howl out the syllables and she’s howled it clearly a handful of times. We may need to share it on YouTube one day.
If you had to describe China in three words, you’d say….
Silly. Wrinkly. Sweetheart.
How is your dog involved in your blog?
Well, she is sort of my sidekick when it comes to blogging. She always has to be next to me while I’m blogging or working on correspondence. She’s sort of my good luck charm.
What is your idea of a perfect day?
A day that blends the perfect mix of family time & work (I love my job) all while being in the moment. If the day includes fine dining, dessert, and a family walk, that is a double plus.
What is your favourite blog/website and why?
Oh my goodness, I have so many, so it’s hard to pick only one. I read a collective of Motivational, Dessert, Fashion, Lifestyle & Chic blogs. Here is a handful of my most favorite blogs! The Daily Love, Oprah, Sweetapolita, SprinklesBakes, Raspberri Cupcakes, The Every Girl, and The Glitter Guide.
What is your #1 tip for other bloggers?
Do it because you love it. Stay true to yourself and your motives. Continue to go in whatever direction is your absolute passion. Make sure that whatever you decide to talk about on your blog bounces back to your mission statement. Ever since I was a young little Melissa, my parents always told me, “if you do what you love then you’ve never worked a day in your life.” I stopped working since the day I launched Best Friends For Frosting.
