3 Expert Blogging Secrets to Make You a Blogger Boss
If you’d told me 5 years ago I’d be making a living working out of my lounge room, I would have questioned how much of that fab new TV show ‘Breaking Bad’ had you been watching…
But here we are. Since launching this blog in 2010 I’ve been able to slowly build it up to the point that it’s become my full time income. Having recently had a baby I can’t stress enough how much this blog has made my life better.
Yes, it’s been hard work. Yes, there have been many times where I’ve wanted to chuck it all in. But, there’s something truly fulfilling and amazing about creating something of your own that enables you to support your family (fur-families included!)
I’m often asked about the long blogging road that got me to where I am today. I love passing on the mistakes I made in a hope that people following in my footsteps can reach full time blogging in half the time (and with half the tears!) that I did.
So today I’m sharing one of my most valued secret weapons of blogging – Ms Madeleine Burke. Madeleine is the lovely lady who developed Pretty Fluffy and has since become my go-to gal for all things tech.
MY SECRET BLOGGING WEAPON
Before Madeleine I wasted so much time and money trying to configure the back-end of my blog. Things crashed, plugins wouldn’t work and I was constantly embarrassed by my lack of tech know-how.
Yet, post Madeleine things are so much different! She literally takes all the confusion and scariness out of the technical side of blogging and helps make your website beautiful AND easy to use.
So, it goes without saying, that I was thrilled to hear when Madeleine announced her new 9 week eCourse Blogger Boss – a tech course designed to make your site look a million bucks (without having to pay a web developer that much to do it!)
Blogger Boss is the first course I know dedicated solely to all those annoying tech things that take your site from ok to oh-my-god. Think SEO, wordpress plugins, hosting tips, social media integration, website layout and coding for dummies (and I mean dummies – if I can do it, you definitely can).
The course officially starts on JUNE 1, 2015 and as of today they have a few pre-sale spots left at $150 OFF the full price (yay for discounts!)
You can sign up for Blogger Boss here.
And because Madeleine is such an all around rockstar AND sweetheart, she’s sharing her 3 top tech tips that will instantly save you time, money and tears in blogging…
3 TECH TIPS TO MAKE YOU A BLOGGER BOSS
1. Choose the Right Theme
Choose a theme that shows what you want where you want it. If you would like a grid of your latest posts on the homepage then try and find this in a pre-made theme rather than having to hack away endlessly at a different one. Always opt for a theme that’s made for blogging. Some WordPress themes look amazing but they’re better suited to a portfolio or business.
2. Master Your SEO
When you’re blogging you want to get those peepers on your posts. SEO is a great, somewhat passive way of getting this and it’s really not as difficult as you might think! Two easy tips to stepping up your SEO — Always include your keyword (or what word or term you would like to come up under when googled) in your title and then put the post title in your image’s alt tags for that post.
3. Backup Your Backups!
Websites aren’t 100% rock solid. Just like your computer can crash so too can your website. Always have a backup system in place and make sure you have at least two backups available at a time! We love Vaultpress for an automated, don’t have to think about it, daily backup.
Note: I must disclose, I am an affiliate for the Blogger Boss course, however I only joined the program because I honestly believe it’s a phenomenal asset for any blogger wanting to turn their blog into a fulfilling career. Plus, if you sign up, I’ll get to chat with you in the members only Blogger Boss facebook page. I will be taking the course alongside you all, as I truly believe you can never stop learning and tech knowledge from the experts keeps you ahead in the blogging game. Hope to see you in class!
