For me Valentine’s Day isn’t necessarily about romance. I think it’s the perfect day to be thankful for the happy relationships you have in your life – be it with your partner, your family, or even your pets!

It’s all about enjoying the LOVE that you have in your life. So today I’m sharing with you two recipes for the perfect Valentine’s brunch – one for you and one for your pooch!

So when you wake up on February 14th, you can pamper yourselves, relax and embrace this happy day. First up, SWEETHEART PUPPY PANCAKES!

PUPPY PANCAKES

YOU’LL NEED

2 free range eggs
1 cup low fat milk
1 & 1/2 tablespoons melted butter
1 tablespoon honey
1 cup wholemeal flour
1/2 cup plain flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

TO MAKE

1. Whisk together the eggs, milk, honey and butter.
2. Add the flours, baking powder and cinnamon. You will be left with a thick pancake mix.
3. Heat a greased pan and place the batter inside a heart shaped cookie cutter.
4. Wait about 1-2 minutes for bubbles to form and pop before flipping the pancake and cooking the alternate side.
5. Serve with fresh blueberries.

HANDY HINTS!

* Makes 10-12 small pancakes.
* Use a stainless steel cookie cutter and be sure to grease the inside to ensure the batter doesn’t stick.
* If you only have plastic cookie cutters, cook the pancakes as normal and then cut out heart shapes once cooked.
* Milk and butter can be substituted with other dairy free variations for dogs with allergies.

** The above recipe is for treats only and should not replace your dog’s regular meal plans. Always check with your vet about any major changes to your dog’s diet.

And just because everyone deserves a bit of loving on Valentine’s Day here is the PERFECT PANCAKE RECIPE for you and your loved ones! It uses almost exactly the same ingredients as the doggie pancakes, so more time for Valentine’s Day cuddles.
