The Story of Hugo

When I recently received an email from the lovely Jessie at Follow Studio I knew I had to share her story. In recent weeks Jessie had the pleasure of caring for a lovely little man called Hugo – a happy, confident and strikingly beautiful Jack Russell who loves his people. In the time that Jessie spent with Hugo she knew she had a special dog on her hands, and she has made it her mission to help find little Hugo a fur-ever home. I don’t know about you but it makes me so happy to see people like Jessie care so much about our furry friends. So, Pretty Fluffies, I would like to reach out to our little community here and ask if you could share Hugo’s story and see if we can find him a home.

From Jessie:
Like most Jacks Hugo is curious and mischievous – he loves adventuring around the park and yard. He loves to be inside and out, but really loves to sleep inside with his people. He learns very quickly and responds well to training. He is good with other furry friends and is very social at the park, good on and off the leash (unless there are birds, which must be chased!). He doesn’t like to be left alone at all and will cry and bark, although when you are home he doesn’t need to be near you all the time. I think he will grow out of this habit with a little patience, care and training when he realises that you will be coming back! Hugo is now in care in Albury, country New South Wales and is looking for a family to love and be loved. He is really the most beautiful Jack Russell Terrier I have ever seen. We were so dearly hoping that he would be able to stay with us, and it broke our hearts that sadly he was not able to. Now I’d love nothing more than to help him find a home to call his own.

Do you know someone who is looking to bring a bit more love into their lives in the New Year? Please share Hugo’s story. If you or someone you know has fallen in love with Hugo’s beautiful face, you can find more information about adopting him through Albury Dog Rescue or if you would like to contact Jessie to hear more about Hugo you can do so here.

Introducing Dogue’s New Coverdog

You may remember a few weeks back we put the call out for Dogue’s 2011 Coverdog search. Well last Sunday I was lucky enough to go along to the fun day out, and see all the dogs strut their stuff. Not only was this possibly the cutest catwalk I’ve ever seen (take that Naomi Campbell!), but over $1000 was raised for Sydney Dogs and Cats Home and the Animal Welfare League. Congratulations Dogue! But enough of me rambling on – let’s see the Coverdogs in action.
From Top:

4 – Pepe
5 – Hendrix

And as for the winners – here they are! First place was awarded to Gwen, an adorable pint-sized Miniature Pomeranian, with second and third place going to Henry the Cavalier Terrier Cross and Timmy the Cavalier Papillon Cross.
Congratulations to all of the winners! And for everyone that participated, you’re all Coverdog’s in my book.

Think your dog is the cutest? Prove it!

I have to say I think I have the cutest dog in the world. However really, I think any proud puppy mama would say that. But rarely comes along a chance for us to prove just how adorable our dogs are – and the Dogue 2011 Coverdog Competition is just that chance.

The gorgeous Australian dog fashion label, Dogue, is launching it’s 2011 Coverdog search – think Next Top Model but with a lot more fluffiness! There are over $500 worth of great prizes to be won including super stardom for the winning dogs.

The competition will be held in the Sydney area at the Entertainment Quarter, Paddington on Sunday, December 11th from 11am to 1pm. But by far the best part is every cent of each dog’s $20 entry fee goes to help other pooches less fortunate than themselves, with all proceeds raised from the Coverdog Competition going directly to the Animal Welfare League and long-time Pretty Fluffy friend, the Sydney Dogs and Cats Home.

Excited to be part of doggie history? Entering the Dogue Coverdog competition is easy: simply complete an entry form via Club Dogue. But be quick! Entries close December 2, 2011.

What makes your dog the cutest?

As part of my animal welfare series All Creatures Great and Small, I’ll be chatting this morning on Mornings with Katrina Roe on Hope 103.2. Today I’m talking all things fostering – how everyday people can care for rescued wildlife and companion animals. Fostering a needy animal is such a rewarding experience and I take my hat off to all the furry foster mums and dads out there!
