To say I’m utterly in love with today’s blog is an understatement. Whether it’s the simple, beautiful layout, or the enchanting finds you discover as you click through the pages, something about this blog captures your imagination. Prepare to fall in love with the Odessa May Society…
Who: Jennifer Prince and Chloe
Where: Odessa May Society
In A Nutshell: OMS is a place for me to collect and curate a variety of subjects such as art, design and handmade. It’s pretty eclectic because I’m a sucker for anything simple and beautiful.
Why did you start blogging?
Honestly, when I get asked this question I never really know how to answer it. I remember not knowing what a blog was at first. Soon after I graduated from college (with a BA in Art History), I think the first blog I discovered was Holly Becker’s decor8. That’s when it hit me, “I want to do this!” Since I was a child, I loved anything creative and design worthy so blogging seemed like a natural fit. I wanted to create an inspiring space, push myself to find my niche. Create a sort of mini online art gallery. Something that is totally me.
What are your most popular posts to date?
My most popular blog post has to be my No Sew Bunting DIY I did last year. I love DIY!
Tell us about your dog…
My husband and I purchased Chloe, a bichon frise, eight years ago as a teeny tiny puppy. I remember how she use to fit in the palm of our hands. Now our 12 pound chunker’s favorite activity is sitting on the back of our couch while she watches out the window (as in the photo above). She’s always guaranteed to be in this spot of the house. My sister jokes that Chloe is more cat-like than dog, which is probably true. She pounces like a cat, I kid you not, and you have to earn her trust in order for her to befriend you. Until she does, she’s a bit shy. That’s my Chlofus!
If you had to describe your dog in three words, you’d say….
Shy, snuggler, loyal.
How is Chloe involved in your blog?
I don’t exactly write about Chloe on my blog but she is my bloggy sidekick. I’m home with Chloe all day while my husband is at work so my routine revolves around her. We always go for an a.m. together where I get to do a lot of my thinking for OMS. It’s a win, win situation for us. She loves to run around the park, I get some creative thinking accomplished.
If you had one tip to share with other blogggers it would be…
Blog as often as you can. The more you blog, the more you see your style develop and discover your niche but this takes time. Really it does. Just be patient. Also, don’t be afraid to reach out to other bloggers. The blogging community is amazing with so many sweet people to ‘meet’.
